Jane Houlihan founded Mission Green Team to help green leaders get more done, with ready-to-go projects that work for classrooms, churches, communities, and more. After 30 years building and leading environmental research groups, creating and applying science to help people lead healthier lives, she is plying her trade in a new direction – giving leaders the tools they need to energize their groups and speed up their goals.

Jane is an environmental engineer, nonprofit executive, writer, and consultant. She is a motivational speaker and a spokesperson in the media on issues covering the intersection of our health and the environment. She directs research programs at Healthy Babies Bright Futures, where she helps reduce children’s exposures to toxic chemicals, and for over a decade served on Environmental Working Group’s executive team, where she pioneered online healthy product guides, including EWG’s Skin Deep cosmetic database and national tap water quality guide, and helped found the U.S.-based Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. Earlier in her career, Jane practiced environmental engineering at national consulting firms helping to clean up contaminated industrial sites across the country.

Among awards she has received for her work are the Heroes Award (Breast Cancer Prevention Partners), a California State Senate award for work to educate women, Top 70 Environmental Women in the U.S. (Glamour), and a shared Business Ethics Network Path to Victory Award recognizing accomplishments for safer consumer products. Jane has testified at Congressional hearings, spoken at industry expos, appeared in documentary films, and briefed government science advisory panels. She has also served as a frequent spokesperson in national media, with her work featured in the New York Times, 20/20, Washington Post, USA Today, CNN, and more.

Jane loves nothing more than being out in nature with her husband and two children, both young adults – hiking, skiing, and seeing the earth’s wild places together. She is a firm believer in our power to create a healthier future together.
